The U.S. has long been Canada’s largest trading partner, yet it remains an intimidating and, often, mysterious market for many entrepreneurs north of the border. Yoram Weinreich isn’t daunted.

The chief growth officer of CCT Global Sourcing, a Vaughan, Ont.-headquartered designer and distributor of furniture sold largely via online retailers, saw sales grow 632% from 2010 to 2015—enough to earn the business the No. 120 spot on the 2016 PROFIT 500 Ranking of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies—largely due to booming business in the U.S.

At the 2016 PROFIT 500 CEO Summit in Toronto in October, Weinreich talks to Carl Gravel, director, global expansion—consulting at BDC, about what it really takes to successfully crack the most lucrative consumer market in the world.
